Happy Birthday Mr. Schlosser!!
The Theatre will be closed today for Panda Prime time.
On our final day of celebrating our school Counselors, we celebrate Mrs. Marie Slone. This is her first year at NDA after being a counselor at other schools for eight years. She loves being at NDA because it is a generally peaceful environment where staff are focused on learning and supporting students. The students work so hard. She has felt very welcome and she cares about the students very much. Her greatest challenge as a counselor is setting careful boundaries to avoid being burnt out. She wants to help everyone with all of the things all of the time. She has to focus so she does not pour too much from her cup and then not be as effective. Her favorite high school experience was playing tennis and being in the drama club and academic team. She loved all of the clubs and teams that she joined. It helped her to make friends and come out of her shell. Mrs. Slone said, “Finding your sense of belonging is SO important!” Her greatest fear is semi trucks on I75 in the morning. When she needs to decompress, she uses the Calm App for sleep meditations and she has a Hatch alarm clock that helps her wind down and wake up. She loves to exercise, write, make art, and read books! When she needs to care for herself, she enjoys listening to music and just having healthy alone time. Her most loved aspect of herself is that she has developed such resilience and empathy from the difficult things she has experienced. She has met amazing people and been to great places that have shaped her into a better person and she is really proud and thankful for that! We thank Mrs. Slone for making such an impact on our students and our community. Happy National School Counselors’ Week!
