NDA’s December Student of the Month has a great outlook on life and according to her teachers, NDA senior Abby Schieman has quite an impressive worth ethic as well. “She is always so focused in class, participating and offering ideas. She is on top of her class work and homework,” says one of Abby’s teachers, Mrs. Stratman. “She works well with her peers in class, keeping them on topic during discussions.”
If you see Abby in the hallways at NDA, you will notice that she is always smiling and very friendly. Abby is truly a young woman making a difference in the world. She has been quite involved in many co-curricular activities since her freshman year at NDA. She is a founder and co-president of the Photography club, a member of the National Honor Society, the National English Honor Society and the Spanish National Honor Society. Abby is a member of the Investment Club, FBLA, Mass Ministry and is currently President of LIFE club at NDA as well. She has served as a Regional Private High School Ambassador, an NDA Student Ambassador, and a Pro-Life Ambassador for the Diocese of Covington.
When Abby is not busy with an NDA activity, there is a good chance she is performing community service. Over the last three years, she has volunteered as a tutor for NDA students, with the elderly at St. Charles Nursing Home, as well as helping out with vacation bible school and church festivals. She is currently working to assist the nursing staff at St. Elizabeth Healthcare/Hospice with patients’ nonmedical needs.
Abby Schieman is a true witness to the Notre Dame Life. We are very proud of Abby, her involvement at NDA and the positive impact she has in our community. It is Abby’s level of dependability, perseverance, integrity, and leadership that have earned her recognition as NDA’s December Student of the Month.
