Notre Dame’s April Student of the Month is a St. Pius X alum, hopes to attend the University of Dayton in the fall, and may tell you she “heard it on NPR” or National Public Radio. Senior Sarah Buckley will conclude her high school career giving us many reasons to be proud she is a panda. Three years in the band, three years on the Lacrosse team, and four years in Theater, Speech and Drama are just a few of Sarah’s many accomplishments here at NDA.
Sarah “is a wonderful role model to other students in her willingness to give of her time,” says NDA alum and former Director of Alumnae, Megan Schneeman. In support of school development efforts, Sarah volunteered to help at several events this school year. As she is with all of her endeavors, Sarah was thorough and hardworking.
Sarah’s actions and kindness toward others are a testimony to Matthew’s Gospel — “the last will be first, and the first will be last” (20:16). Sarah is known to put others before herself. She tutored students at St. Augustine’s School on a weekly basis and also volunteered to give up her study hall two days a week to help out a student at NDA. Academic Counselor Mrs. Burgei says Sarah was “always on time and a tremendous help to this student.” It is her continual compassion, kindness, commitment, and respect to all people that contribute to her being recognized as Student of the Month. Way to go, Sarah!
