Announcements for Thursday, February 6, 2025

This week is National School Counselors’ Week.

Today, we celebrate Mrs. Erin Stanley.  She has been at NDA for 4 years.  She loves being at NDA because of the meaningful connections she can make with the students.  Whether it’s exploring what a student wants to be when they grow up, helping them write a college essay, encouraging them to believe in themselves or just being a friendly face in the hallway – making meaningful connections is so powerful. She also loves being at NDA because of the students.  She said they make her job so fun.  Mrs. Stanley said, “We have the most talented, kind, intelligent, generous, and faith filled students around.  They inspire me everyday!  I also love being a part of a community that has given me so much as a student and one that shares my values as an adult.”  Her greatest challenge in being a school counselor is keeping up with all of her emails.  As a NDA Alum (Class of 2013), Mrs. Stanley has wonderful memories as a high school student in the classroom, on the court, and doing service projects.  She loved Socratic Discussions in Mrs. Bricking’s English class and blaring music in Mr. Eckerle’s art room.  She loved being challenged to think in a different and unique way and to explore what faith and spirituality looks like to her. When she needs to decompress, she enjoys the 54321 Coping Technique.  It helps her to focus on the present.  When she needs to care for herself, she disconnects from the phone and computer and plays with her son Archie.  He helps her to enjoy the simple pleasures.  Her most loved aspect of herself is how much she loves others, so it is no surprise that her greatest fear is living in a society where the dignity of every human is not upheld.  We thank Mrs. Stanley for making such an impact on our students and our community.  Happy National School Counselors’ Week!
