Show Description:
Based on Roald Dahl’s book, this is a story of an extraordinary girl who dares to take a stand and change her own destiny. Matilda the Musical is a captivating story about childhood, the power of imagination, and the inspiring story of a girl who dreams of a better life. Matilda uses her astonishing intelligence, which is just one of her super powers, to combat her cruel and unloving parents. When she is enrolled in school, Matilda impresses her teacher Miss Honey, but also gains a new enemy, the school’s headmistress, Miss Trunchbull. The Trunchbull hates children and loves rules and punishment. Matilda uses her courage and cleverness to rally all the students together in this high-energy musical filled with catchy songs and dances.
Auditions:
- Time Slots– sign up for a time on Mon Dec 9 or Wed Dec 11
- Audition form– fill out by Dec 8
- Monologue– prepare and memorize a 60sec contemporary monologue
- Song– prepare and memorize 16 bars of a contemporary musical theatre song, print sheet music and clearly mark the beginning and end, AND bring link for instrumental or karaoke track
- Make sure to not just recite your monologue or just sing your song, become a character with a personality, character development, gestures, and simple blocking

- Call backs and dance call will be on Thurs Dec 12 between 3:15-6pm, we will email you if you are needed for call backs or dance
Technicians, Designers, Crew:
- Sign up on google form by Dec 8
- Need stage management, scenic, lighting, sound, props, costumes, hair/makeup designers and crew
Mandatory Dates:
- Rehearsals begin Feb 10, Mon-Thurs from 3-6:30pm. Fridays if needed! Vocal rehearsals may begin in January and scheduled individually.
- Production Meetings and Shop Hours on Thursdays from 3:16-6pm, starting Feb 13th
- Saturday Build Days: Feb 15 from 10am-2pm, Feb 22 from 10am-2pm, Mar 1 from 1-4pm, Mar from 1-4pm, Mar 15 from 10am-2pm
- Last Build Day & Paper Tech: Mar 22 from 1pm-4pm or until 6pm if we need extra time
- Q2Q: Mar 24-28 from 3:15-6:30pm All Cast and Crew MANDATORY
- TECH: Mar 29-30 from 12pm-6pm (might go longer depending on show length)
- Mar 31- Early dismissal from school, tech 2:15-9:30pm
- Apr 1- Tech 3:15-9:30pm
- Apr 2- Early dismissal from school, tech 2:15-9:30pm
- Apr 3- Dress rehearsal/Alumnae Dinner 3:15-10:30pm
- Apr 4- Opening Night 3:15-10:30pm
- Apr 5- Second Show 5:00-10:10pm
- Apr 6- Closing Show 12pm-8:30pm including strike
- April 9-13 St. Agnus Rental, fill out crew form with availability! (NDA’s prom is Apr 11)
